Our Process
BGYLS strives to connect students with quality tutors and learning assistants throughout Grey and Bruce. Many of our volunteers are retired professionals – including a few retired teachers – and we are dedicated to pairing your child with a tutor who matches their temperament, and meets your child’s unique learning needs

About Us
The YLS was created with students in mind. Not everyone learns the same way or for the same reasons—we all have different interests, goals, and learning styles. That’s why literacy is so important. Math, reading, and writing are the building blocks for everything we do in the future. Building a strong literacy foundation ensures a confident, bright future, where students can pursue whatever they want.
Our headquarters are in Hanover, Ontario, but we serve students throughout Grey and Bruce. Our network of tutors are ready to provide in-person, one-on-one learning at public spaces near you.

I wish I would have known about the SGBYLC sooner. With 6 months of weekly sessions that included direct instruction, faded prompting, and math games, my daughter greatly improved her mark in math this term! The South Grey Bruce Literacy Council is a great program for youth. I heard of the SGBYLC from a teacher at our daughter’s school. After reaching out for help, both my, and my daughter’s, world has changed forever.
